Dramatic Terms: Gestures

            The use of body gestures in a play is very important. Why? Well without the use of gestures to express emotions and situations, the play would be lifeless. By having the actors use hand gestures and big body movements, the audience will be able to understand and pay attention to the play easier.

The Perfect Storm

              Today in English I was able to catch up on my book report book. At first i didn't think that The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger was going to be as detailed and interesting as it was to read. Sadly I was only able to read three chapters into the book today. However, in my opinion, three chapters of this book will really give you a good understanding of the story. In the first two chapters, it introduced the characters and their daily lives as a fisherman. According to my observation, the main character Bobby, will soon go out to sea and fish in the most extreme storm for money to support his girlfriend and pay off his debt. Due to his past Bobby seems like a person that grew up with very little and lived a struggling life even as an adult.

Poetry Refelection

            I thought that the poetry unit was very interesting. I got to express my thoughts through poetry for once which was very new. Even though I'm not a very deep person writing poetry makes me feel less like a shallow pool because I can express all my thoughts and analysis them in my poems. All in all, I really did enjoy the poetry unit, even though I wasn't very good at writing poems.
            From my post-it comments I realized I needed to work more on my vocabulary and speaking skills. Everyone who gave me a post-it commented on my one simile and my voice but didn't say much about anything else.
